Reggae and dancehall legend Sizzla Kalonji is preparing for a triumphant comeback to the United States, following the reinstatement of his U.S. visa. The iconic Jamaican artist took to Instagram to share the news, expressing gratitude to his dedicated management team for facilitating his return to the American stage.
The reggae artist’s U.S. work visa was revoked in 2019, leading to his exclusion from major events like the annual reggae festival, Reggae on the River, in California. Despite these challenges, Sizzla remained active in other countries, including a notable visit to Japan in 2023.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Sizzla has been focused on various projects, including the establishment of the Judgment Yard community centre in August Town, St. Catherine. He has also collaborated with a diverse range of artists, both locally and internationally, including Burna Boy, Chance The Rapper, and Bounty Killer to name a few.
Making his long-awaited return to the United States stage, Sizzla announced his first show in over five years at the Boston Dancehall Reggae Fest on August 10. The Boston Dancehall Reggae Fest has a storied history of hosting renowned artists, and Sizzla’s upcoming performance is sure to be a highlight of the concert series.
