Rachel Silvera has been crowned Miss Universe Jamaica 2024. The 25-year-old pharmacy student and entrepreneur is set to represent Jamaica in Mexico at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant in November.

This year’s Miss Jamaica Universe coronation took place on Sunday, July 28, at the AC Hotel in Kingston.

This isn’t the first time Rachel has vied for this coveted crown; she was the first runner-up in the 2022 Miss Universe Jamaica competition, where Toshami Calvin won the title.

Born in Windsor Castle, St. Mary, Rachel is a passionate advocate for environmental sustainability and mental health awareness. In April 2024, she officially launched Footprints, Jamaica, an organization aimed at enhancing the sustainable urbanization of rural communities through urban planning, education, mental well-being, and climate action. The organization is shaped by a commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Sara-Jade Kow, a 30-year-old real estate professional and entrepreneur, was the first runner-up, while 23-year-old Keri-Ann Greenwood, Miss Universe Jamaica East, was named the second runner-up.

The 73rd Miss Universe Pageant will be held in Mexico for the first time since 2007. In September 2023, the Miss Universe Organization made headlines for removing age limits for contestants. Before this announcement, the age limit for entering the beauty pageant was 18 to 28 years only.
