Grand Slam Track

The inaugural Grand Slam Track event, held April 4-6, 2025, at Kingston’s National Stadium, launched Michael Johnson’s revolutionary track and field league with electrifying performances. This high-stakes, star-studded meet set the stage for a transformative season, including fierce rivalries, innovative formats, and a massive $3.15 million prize money.

US Olympic champions like Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone dominated, claiming the women’s long hurdles title with a 50.32-second 400m and earning $100,000. Gabby Thomas dazzled in the long sprints, clocking a personal-best 49.14 in the 400m to secure her crown. Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya stunned in the men’s short distance, outpacing 1500m Olympic medalists Cole Hocker (US), Josh Kerr (UK), and Yared Nuguse (US). Other standout winners from the short sprints included Kenny Bednarek (US), Melissa Jefferson (US), and Australia’s Jessica Hull, who pocketed $40,000 in the women’s short distance.

The format—athletes racing twice across three days in categories like short sprints (100m/200m) and long hurdles (400mH/400m)—delivered unique matchups. Bahraini sprinter Salwa Eid Naser’s 48.67 400m, the fastest ever in April, was a highlight.
